In world rankings UoT ranks 16 and UoW ranks 27. Any advice on choosing which to attend. I just got my early acceptance offer from UoT co-op and waiting for UoW first rounds to go out.

Any ideas of the post school job outlooks from either program?

I'm planning on either majoring or minoring in math because I'm very good at it. I got amazing grades in advanced functions and calculus but don't really want to take data management. Is it ok that I don't? Will I be able to take university math without it? Thanks

Hey everyone!

I saw this thread last year and thought it was worth while to do! For anyone applying to 4 or 2 year programs.

1. Which school(s) are you applying to?
2. What other programs are you applying to as your back up?
3. What average are you aiming for your final year?
EXTRA - I want current Nursing students to be included as well! Tell us where you go, where you applied to and what your GPA in Grade 12 was or post secondary if thats what your doing right now. Also, a few pointers, tips and guidance is always great!

1. I want to go to McMaster (4 year), Queens (4 year or 2 year), Western (2 year), UofT
2. Nursing, and nothing else!
3. I had mid 80's in high school and currently have a 3.1 from Uoft B.A second year

So common guys, reveal yourselves! ;)

Will universities (in Canada and outside Canada) look at my grade 9 marks?

1 reply • Last reply: 7:02AM February 27, 2015 UTC by Wonu Adisa
Hey guys! Ok well, I haven't completed grade 9 yet but I was wondering if universities would count my grade 9 marks. My average percentage is 95% so far, but I'm scared that won't be enough for UBC -- Science BSC.

Thanks in advance!

Is automotive engineering a good career for a car enthusiast?

3 replies • Last reply: 7:02AM February 26, 2015 UTC by Peter Gregorian
Hello!
My name is Seth and Im a young car enthusiast. Im looking at careers that I will like, Im really wanting to work in the car industry and I was thinking an automotive engineer would be not too bad of a choice. Is it a good career for a die hard car enthusiast? Would it be fun? I also wish to make good pay so that I can spend it on my own cars. Im not saying making millions a year because I know automotive engineers wont really make that much, but hopefully something like 70k-80k (Canadian) and up so that I can live comfortably but also have enough to spend it on cars of my own. So would an automotive engineer be a good choice as a career for me or could you guys possibly name some alternative careers for a car enthusiast. Keep in mind that I will be studying in Canada.

Thanks!

3rd Year Brock BBA/BAcc Co-op student, ask me anything!

33 replies • Last reply: 7:02AM February 26, 2015 UTC by Anonymous

I'm basically always on here so figured might as well make one of these and help out any prospective students.

Background:
- First 2 years spent as BBA Co-op student, secured first coop term through BBA
- Transferred into BAcc Co-op after 2 years
- Currently on co-op

You kinda get the best of both worlds since I have been in all (both) the programs offered at the Goodman School of Business!

And since I know these are gonna be popular Qs:

WHEN SEARCHING FOR 1ST CO-OP:
- Avg (both major and overall) ~80%
- ECs: Leadership position in a club, some entrepreneurial stuff, sports stuff
- Work XP: General accounting internship at no-name organization doing very basic stuff, manual labour

Since attending Brock, I have received interview requests from (in no particular order):
RBC x2, Canadian Tire Financial Services, Imperial Oil (Alberta), Ontario Securities Commission (CPA Approved), Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, Big 4 Audit (Toronto), Suncor (Alberta), TeamBuy.ca, and CPP Investment Board.

Note: These were not all co-op positions, some were just summer internship interviews.

AT TIME OF APPLYING TO UNIVERSITY:
- Rejected from BAcc Co-op
- Accepted to BBA Co-op with 83.5% top 6

So feel free to ask me anything and I'll try to answer your Qs as best as I can!

*Even if nobody has posted in this topic for a while, feel free to do so, chances are I'm still lurking on here

Mac Vs Carleton

2 replies • Last reply: 7:02AM February 26, 2015 UTC by Kastler J. Louis
So uhm, I'm 100% sure I want to work with mental health as a profession so I thought getting the cognitive science degree @ Carleton would highlight that. The issue isn't that I'm actually debating Mac over Carleton, it's more convincing my parents, a Cognitive science degree vs BA in psych would potentially be better for my future. I told them I booked my tour to Carleton and ofc, I get the "what about McMaster?" If it isn't obvious, Mac is home and they want me to stay home. This thread isn't about school reputation or anything, just wanting to opinions. If you were in my position, would you just go to Mac?

University of Toronto Engineering Student - Ask Me Anything

Hey everyone! I started this thread to answer questions from the potential class of 2017, and to keep all of the University of Toronto-related items in one place.

I'm a first year engineering student at the University of Toronto and I'm currently studying electrical/computer engineering (same courses as TrackOne). I commute to school every day, so I can't really answer that many questions about residence, but I'm sure others will be willing to chime in on that.

Without further ado, ask away!

I just got my acceptance the other day for BA Honours in Psych, and a second one for English.
Carleton is my first choice for sure because I'm drawn to the city of Ottawa and the campus looks like a community, and a ton of fun.
I love to have fun and meet new people so i want to know if anyone got accepted yet either? not just BA but other programs too :)

also I heard the social scene can be dry but its what you make it. I can't wait, my best friend and I are both planning to go here. So excited!
