Has anyone been accepted to SFU Beedie? SFU already started sending our admission offers for their other faculties but I am yet to see one for Beedie.

If you have been accepted what was your average and your broad based like?

Also does anyone know around when Beedie will start sending out offers?

EUCLID PREP

The Euclid competition is quickly coming up, and I'd really like to do well in the competition, mainly for bragging rights. The problem is though, I finished most of the old euclid questions that I could do in preparation for the Senior Mathematics Contest. The only questions I have left are the ones I had no idea how to do.

What resources can I look into to perhaps learn more material so I can do these harder questions? I guess I could go question by question and look up how it should be done, but it doesn't seem like an efficient method of studying.

For others:

Extremely stressed out and worried...

Hello everyone. I'm an OUAC 105D applicant, a Canadian citizen currently living abroad and studying in an accredited US-system high school, and I have applied to the following universities:

University of Toronto Mississauga (Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics)
University of Toronto St. George [Trinity College] (Life Sciences)
University of Toronto Scarborough (Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics)
York University (Kinesiolgy)
York University (Computer Science)
Ryerson University (Computer Science)
University of Waterloo (Life Sciences, Honours)
University of Western Ontario (Medical Sciences)

I applied around the end of December - early January to these universities, and I submitted all my documents to the universities on February 8th, except for Ryerson, which I completed late February, and University of Western Ontario(My high school transcript still didn't show up as received in my student centre). There are two things that are stressing me out right now,

First, my marks:

Grade 9 GPA: 3.6
Grade 10 GPA: 3.3(I got a D+ in Mathematics in Grade 10, which is what worries me a lot.)
Grade 11 GPA: 4.0
Grade 12 GPA: 4.0(So far, this is my first semester GPA for grade 12)

Cumulative GPA: 3.7

SAT Scores:

SAT Reasoning Test (Took Twice):
1900( 760 Writing, 600 Mathematics, 540 Critical Reading)
1830( 610 Writing, 650 Mathematics, 570 Critical Reading)
Super score(The best combined scores): 1980/2400

SAT Subject Tests:
Mathematics Level 1: 730
Mathematics Level 2: 590
Ecological Biology: 780

The second thing that worries me is that I fear I may have been rejected since I haven't heard anything back from any of the universities yet. :(

Do you think I'll be accepted into any of these universities?

EXTRA - I want current Nursing students to be included as well! Tell us where you go, where you applied to and what your GPA in Grade 12 was or post secondary if thats what your doing right now. Also, a few pointers, tips and guidance is always great!

1. I want to go to McMaster (4 year), Queens (4 year or 2 year), Western (2 year), UofT
2. Nursing, and nothing else!
3. I had mid 80's in high school and currently have a 3.1 from Uoft B.A second year

I've already been accepted to Ryerson for accounting/finance, University of Toronto Mississauga for commerce, Western for BMOS (still waiting on AEO status though) and Laurier for BBA, but obviously, I want to get into my top choices.

CURRENT MARKS (as of January report card):

Carleton's new BGINS program in comparison to UoT and UOttawa?

0 replies • Posted: 7:03AM March 03, 2015 UTC
Hi guys!!

I have applied to Carleton for their new Bachelor of Global and International Studies Program, as well as to UOttawa for their International Studies and Modern Languages Program, and to UoT for their IR program. I was just wondering if anyone else has applied to these programs, and which programs they have decided to accept? My dream job would be to work as a Canadian Diplomat, or for an organization like the UN. Is there one program that would be better for this career than the other, or can I not go wrong with any program? Thanks guys!!

The “scientific miracles” of the Quran is a topic that many people are talking about nowadays, as the research in many fields continues. The source for this is probably the fact that there are literally hundreds of verses of the Quran in which God points to different aspects of this creation and encourages humans to reflect and learn from what they are seeing.

Shortly after I became Muslim, I became aware of Maurice Bucaille’s The Bible, the Quran and Science. For the sake of brevity, I wish to share with you the important conclusions that he reached:

The Quran follows on from the two Revelations that preceded it and is not only free from contradictions in its narrations, the sign of the various human manipulations to be found in the Gospels, but provides a quality all of its own for those who examine it objectively and in the light of science i.e. its complete agreement with modern scientific data. What is more, statements are to be found in it (as has been shown) that are connected with science: and yet it is unthinkable that a man of Muhammad's time could have been the author of them. Modern scientific knowledge therefore allows us to understand certain verses of the Quran which, until now, it has been impossible to interpret.

In view of the level of knowledge in Muhammad's day, it is inconceivable that many of the statements in the Quran which are connected with science could have been the work of a man. It is, moreover, perfectly legitimate, not only to regard the Quran as the expression of a Revelation, but also to award it a very special place, on account of the guarantee of authenticity it provides and the presence in it of scientific statements which, when studied today, appear as a challenge to explanation in human terms.[1]

In his discussion of the Quran, Bucaille emphasizes three important points:

a) First, there is nothing in the Quran that contradicts modern science;

b) second, there is no mention of some of the false beliefs that people had at that time of the Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, concerning the creation, the universe and science in general; and,

c) three, there is no way that the Prophet Muhammad could have known at his time many of the facts alluded to in the Quran.

The Qur'an is the holy book for Muslims. It was revealed to an illiterate man, Muhammad, 1400 years ago. This is in itself amazing, that an illiterate man began to recite verses of literary genius. What is more amazing and miraculous is that he pronounced truths of a scientific nature that no other human could possibly have developed at that time (1400 years ago) and without making a single error.

For the sake of brevity, though, it will be possible to discuss only one verse in some detail here demonstrating the “scientific miracles” of the Quran.[2]

Upon reading the Quran, one topic that catches many a reader’s eye is the discussion of the creation of the human within the womb of the mother. God says in the Quran:

“We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into mudghah (chewed-like substance)…” (Quran 23:12-14)

This brief passage is outstanding in its precise description of the actual process as well as its freedom from all of the incorrect theories and views that were prevalent at the time of Muhammad. As noted in the translation, the Arabic word alaqah can imply leech, suspended thing or blood clot. In reality, all of these terms are descriptive of the embryo. In fact, in its earliest stage, the embryo not only actually physically looks like a leech
[3] but it “obtains nourishment from the blood of the mother, similar to the leech, which feeds on the blood of others.

”[4] Alaqah, again, can also mean, “suspended thing,” which is also true of the embryo in this stage as it sits hanging in the womb of the mother

.[5] Finally, alaqah can also mean blood clot. Again, the relationship to the actual physical process is miraculous.

I am having a huge dilemma whether to go to Brock or Carleton. I've applied to Brock, Carleton, McMaster and Guelph but I don't really want to go to guelph anymore and McMaster is losing my interest.

Ive applied to Criminology and Criminal Justice in Concentration of Psychology at Carleton, Psychology and Socio at Brock (got accepted) and Socio at McMaster. If anyone knows details about these programs especially the one at Carleton, please tell me because it's a program that isn't available anywhere else. Ultimately, I want to do Criminology and Psychology.

*** I want to choose a school that has a great social life and night life in the city, cultural diversity is also important to me as well as an accepting community. I also like school spirit***

**** ANOTHER THING THAT IM TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT BUT I CANT SEEM TO IS THE DINING SERVICES AT THESE UNIVERSITIES, HOW IS THE FOOD SOMEONE TELL ME PLEASE.***

If anyone goes to any of these schools or has heard things about it please let me know! I want all the info I can get. Thanks guys!!

Thanks for the answers guys, keep em coming I want all the opinions I can get plus I'm sure it'll help someone else debating the same thing.
