Hi guys! I'm in my senior year of grade 12 and I can't wait to graduate. To all the current university students, do you guys still talk to your high school friends or has university made you forget all about them? Thanks!

I am interested in what your study strategies and tips are for succeeding in university. Even if you are in high school, I am curious to know about things that have been effective for you that can also be applied later on in life. Any lessons you learned? Stories with morals to them?

Thanks in advance.

Playing Competitive Sports Beyond High School.. Stressing

Anonymous

So I was wondering with the workload in a university co-op program do you think it would be possible for someone to play on a club basketball team (Travel,3 practices a week, one game, tournaments etc.) while participating in extracurricular activities and maintaining high grades 85+ or would it just be too stressful and I would end up doing cocaine. I just really love basketball and in many ways basketball motivates me to do better in school so I wanted to continue playing basketball either on the University team or a u 19 club team. Also, do you think that having a car in university is useful if you are already living on residence or is it just a waste of money?

Life Sciences with Co-op at Waterloo

Which of those two universities have better opportunities (for the specified programs)? Also, which university has the better social life? Which is more diverse? Thank you!

U of T - Life Science Program ...admissions details please

Firstly, I was wondering what kind of an average would somewhat guarantee you admission into Life Science(Human Biology...to be specific (if that matters)) ...I have checked the website and all but I feel like I'd be more comfortable with feedback from people that have gotten accepted, already.
Secondly, how do scholarships at u of t work ...I just dont get it due to it being so complicated on the website :/ ... I'd really appreciate some cut-off marks and some details on how much money you get for what cut-off...
Thirdly, I would also like to know about the residence scholarships at u of t and there cut-offs and money ranges.
Lastly, I honestly dont get it ...so I've heard that universities only look at ur top 6 for grade 12... but what about grade 11(for early acceptance) is it also just the top 6 for it or is it all the grades(for grade 11).

By answering these questions, you'd be relieving me of a WHOLE LOT of pressure...I'd appreciate every possible answer I get :) ...thanks a lot, much appreciated!!!

Oh and by the way ...does taking the "recommended" prerequisites(like physics for example) help them consider you more ...in any way :/ ...

St. George campus ...sorry forgot to mention that earlier

Do people go into Consulting right out of undergrad??

So I've always been confused about this. On employment reports of undergrad schools like Ivey, Mcgill, queens etc, it shows percentage of people that went into consulting. Is this right out of undergrad? or is it long term surveys.

So my question is do people go into consulting right away or do you need experience first to consult

Hi! UBC is my first choice for next year, and I'm sure it is for quite a few people on this forum as well. So I thought I would start this conversation for all 2014 applicants, so that we can go through the applications process together.

I was hoping we could all introduce ourselves with some basic info!
1. Where you are from (which province/intl) + status in Canada (pr/citizen or intl)
2. Faculty & (optional)prospective major
3. Grade 11 courses/average
4. Grade 12 top 4 avg/courses

So, a bit about me:
1. Graduating from BC, but I'm an intl student
2. Science - Biology related
3. Grade 11: 87% - pre-calc, physics, chem, biology, socials, english
4. Grade 12: term 1 = 98% - pre-calc, calc, biology, english

1. City, Country
2. Grade 12 Top 4 Average
3. What you want to do with your degree

So I've been recently researching this program and found it to be really compelling. However, I've heard that this is a hard program to enter, and if you do enter it, it is hard to balance your work, let alone your personal life. Has anyone know someone or is in the program? If so, what were their averages? And how do they find it so far?

So my mark going into midterms should be around a 82-83% and I know that is the minimum requirement for western social science. Though I have 700 community services hours and part of extra-curricular activities... And have filled in the extra curricular form, do u guys think I have a chance to get in?

I am curious between the two. Which is better in your opinion?
Which one is more prominent between the two? Why?
Which is harder to get into?
Which is harder to maintain high marks?
Are employers more biased to pick their future workers from these schools? If so, which one?
Finally, if possible, what's your experience in these schools?

Waterloo's System Design Engineering VS Mcgill Chemical Engineering

Hey guys! I'm going into engineering next year and am having trouble deciding between McGill's chemical engineering program (14th in the world) or Waterloo's Systems Design Engineering program. Both seem great, but McGills seems to have alot more prestige. I was just wondering how UW's SYDE compares to Mcgill's Chem Eng in ways such as employability, jobs after graduation, enjoyment, workload etc. Thanks!

If you get an offer, please be so kinda as to letting us know when you received an offer, for what program and your percentage.

This way, we can all go through this process together so best of luck! I hope everyone gets in :) And for those who got in, congrats!!

Thanks!!

Just got waitlisted for sciences at UBC... is it all over? (IB)

Anonymous
13 replies • Last reply: 7:03AM March 01, 2015 UTC by Anonymous
Hello,

I've had my heart set on UBC for quite a while now, and then just this afternoon I got the news that I was waitlisted on their student portal.

"We have evaluated your application and due to the competitive nature of your program, we are not able to offer you admission. Your application is currently wait-listed. Any changes to your application and wait-list status will be noted here and a final decision will be available to you by June 15th. Please note that a large number of wait-listed candidates do not receive offers of admission, and we encourage you to make alternate plans accordingly."

I'm wondering if anyone could tell me what my chances are of getting accepted, if at all. I'm a IB diploma student with a total predicted mark of 33. My predicted mark breakdown is:
6 - Chemistry SL, Geography HL
5 - Math SL, Spanish SL (final), English Lit. HL
4 - Physics HL (Trying hard to bring this up - is this mark the main cause of me being waitlisted?)
with 2 Predicted marks for TOK & EE.

Does anyone know of IB students who got accepted with around a 33 predicted? I realise that their website has listed a "recommended" average of 29-32 for admission, and I'd like to think my PP was strong (Good ECs, but who knows, since it's relative scoring). My waitlist message doesn't even say the "Strong candidate", which it appears a lot of others have.

Is it possible?

is it possible to withdraw an offer once you have accepted it? I became so impatient that I accepted UofT's offer because I felt so hopeless from getting admitted to my dream university in the US. Of course, I am so happy to have been admitted to UofT especially after a gap year but would there be any way to reverse what I did? In other words, to decline or to withdraw the offer? Will I have to contact the university? Any advice or help would be much appreciated!
