UBC Engineering Cut off??

What's up guys...

So I've applied to UBC Applied Sciences Program, and like a lot of other people.. I was wondering my chances of getting in. I hear from a lot of people that UBC doesn't care too much about your personal profile but rather your academic standings. I was hoping you guys could give me some input.

So far I got my Term 2 grades (linear school)
Pre-Calculus 12: 97%
English 12: 94%
Physics 12 (Final): 88%
Chemistry 12: 84%
Which basically leaves me at a 90.75% Total Average.

I hear that if one course is much lower than the rest, that can really hurt your profile, and in my case, is my chemistry 12 grade too low?

So far.. I think I have a great Personal Profile.
- Top 3 in Provincials for Volleyball, while i compete in many other sports
-Duke of Edinburgh Award
- Very active in my community, I start a lot of programs with various community centres
- Work 2 jobs with a single mom
- Participate in school clubs
- Also I listed how I overcame adversity, and show how I became a stronger person overall through that.

Those are most of the key points I listed on my personal profile.

So to put this in a lot simpler form...
90.75% avg with a strong personal profile.

What do you think my chances are of getting in??

Cindy Shearin Group Real Estate News: 10 regler du behover veta innan du koper eller saljer ditt hem

0 replies • Posted: 7:03AM March 03, 2015 UTC

Hi guys,

So, just recently, I've begun stressing over my chances of being accepted into my preferred choice (general science) at UBC. I have been reading a lot of threads and there have been a variety of responses. Some getting in with low 90s, other not getting in. Some saying they had excellent PP's yet were denied. I know that not everyone can be trusted but I would like to hear what you think are my chances of getting in.

Grade 11 Marks:
Bio 11 -94%
Chem 11 (honours) - 96%
Physics 11 - 91%
English 11 - 92%
Pre-Calculus 11 Honours - 90%
Socials Studies - 93%

Grade 12 Marks
Biology - 95%
Chemistry - 95%
Calculus 12 - 95%
English 12 - 90%
AP Calculus - 93%
AP Chemistry - 94%

EC's include Captain and MVP of two different sports team at school, founder and coach of my own basketball association, tutoring all grades other than grade 12, main member of a club that specializes in making sure everyone in school is treated with respect, kindness etc. and grad council in which I create event, create proposals for teachers to decide on the event, and run events for the entire graduating class.

Any feedback would be great,
Thank You!

How to transfer from SFU Beedie to Ivey?

I'm in grade 12 and IF I get into Beedie, is it possible to transfer to Ivey? I'd really like to do their dual bba and law degree. I'm not quite sure if the credits will transfer. However, I want to do my MBA at an Ivey League school in the states, and I hear that Ivey has a better reputation than Beedie does.

Can anyone from Ivey give me some insight on how to transfer and get into Ivey's business and law faculty? To do the dual degree, I need to get accepted into both faculties. What average would I need to obtain? I'm also confused about what year I can transfer. Preferably, I'd like to transfer after my first year at SFU beedie.

thank you! :)

EUCLID PREP

The Euclid competition is quickly coming up, and I'd really like to do well in the competition, mainly for bragging rights. The problem is though, I finished most of the old euclid questions that I could do in preparation for the Senior Mathematics Contest. The only questions I have left are the ones I had no idea how to do.

What resources can I look into to perhaps learn more material so I can do these harder questions? I guess I could go question by question and look up how it should be done, but it doesn't seem like an efficient method of studying.

For others:

Stuck between choosing SFU or UVIC!

I got accepted into both SFU and UVIC poliscience department. I was wondering if you guys could help me out. My final goal is to go to law school, i live in vancouver. I just do not know how to make the choice, i realize that SFU is a commuter school, that is not my worry, but it does seem very closed up and not socially fun; academically seems good. Uvic seems too socially fun but not sure on the academic aspect of it. HELPPPP

Would switching schools from grade 11 to grade 12 affect my chances at Ivey/Queens?

Anonymous

Hi, I am currently in the eleventh grade and I really want to go go back to my old school for grade 12. However, I would not make the change if this affected my chances for university acceptances. I have a few questions pertaining to the issue.

1.) Would Ivey or Queens see my transfer from grade 11 to 12 and find me unfit for the program and see that I am not committed?
2.)I have personally started the Relay For Life event at my new school and its a huge event celebrating life and the end to cancer. I got the idea myself from being a part of it in grade 10 at my first high school. Would I still be able to put that on my essays if I was back at my old school?

Sorry if it's a bit confusing. I just think my old school was a better fit for my academically and socially. Thanks!

Hi! I was just accepted to the commerce program and I don't really know anything about it. I was just wondering if anyone in the program could share a bit about it such as what the classes are like, how hard it is, how much flexibility you have to take the courses you want, and anything else you would find valuable to know. I have heard McGill is impossible so I am really worried about going! Thanks in advance.

UBC Arts Transfer Fall 2015

Hi Everyone,

I'm a transfer student currently finishing second year at the moment. I've applied to UBC Arts, and my application status has been saying my file is ready for an evaluation for the past week and a half or so. Has anyone transferring received any word back from UBC Admissions? If so, would you mind sharing your average? :)

My average is sitting at approximately 77% based on my last 30 credits. Does anyone know what the usual cut off average is? I would also really appreciate any insight as to whether my average will be competitive for a third-year transfer or not? I've heard a lot of mixed claims, with some saying low seventies is all you need.

Thank you everyone!

So I received an offer of admission awhile back in early January. With that, I was offered a scholarship. Is it possible to receive a higher amount with my final marks? I was accepted based on my grade 11 marks so is it possible for me to increase the scholarship money? I know that my marks are better this year. They're in the low 90s, and I predict that they'll stay that way till 2nd semester finals. BTW i received scholarships for 1,000 per year. Is it possible to increase it to 3,000 per year?
