Any chance for admission? (Even UOIT) After screwing up a part of my 1st semester..

A photo of dominator dominator
So I'm a grade 12 student and here are my 1 semesters' courses:

advanced functions (current mark: 67)
english: mid 70s
chemistry: 70 (dropped from high 70s down to 70)

2nd semester

calculus
biology
exercise science

Something came up that caused me to screw up for a period of time in my current semester... still have exams/one more test to go in chem/math...

My goal is biological sciences... life sciences... I guess at UOIT cause of my marks...

So what are my chances?

You can probably get into UOIT if you get your marks up a bit.

They have this life science and management program you can do too..

Thanks for the link.

So that gives 2 options:

bio sciences (cause with the managment it's still the same program?)
life sciences

What mark percentage would I be safe at?

Seeing that you applied to UOIT, what were your grade 11 marks and current 12 marks? If you dont mind me asking...

You could try University of Windsor... they accept anybody.

Biological Sciences:

Biochem:

Biochem & Biotech:

Just work harder second semester. Aim for high 70s or 80s in bio and calc.

That's a really good idea, it's just that I dont wanna live on res...

To be honest, I have the ability to get high 80s/low 90s.. my grade 11 mid terms were all mid 90s.. just too much fooling around and doing nothing at all dropped my grade 11 down to 80 average on the dot.

Well you beat me. I had the same problem last year and my average was 79.
Right now it's in the 90s.......so it's possible!
Yeah, and believe me, Windsor residence SUCKS. no joke
so just try harder :bigsmurf:

yeaa im gonna.

But anyone know what average will "secure" me a spot?

IS it possible to get early admission off an 80 average (in grade 11) to UOIT ? Since my grade 11 marks wont be in until end of 1st semester...

http://www.uoit.ca/EN/main/11259/oira/cudo2010/sectionB.html

So that sounds 2.2% got into the science programs with an average below 70% and 1/3 had an average between 70-75... How reliable is this to count on? How do people even get in with an average under 70% ??

my gr 11 overall average was ~91%
right now, my gr 12 avg (only subjects that'll be in my top 6) is 95%

You say that you're not dumb, and that your marks are low because you got lazy. Well, then stop being lazy. If you work your butt off for the rest of the school year, you will get in. Also, you could consider transferring out after 1st year if you want.

I see, good job on the marks.

lol clarify?

Any chance if too many people take the early offers that my 2nd semester marks wont get to make an impact on my admission anymore?
And is an early offer possible using my 80 average in grade 11? (applying today lol)

Ok so I applied right now and...

1 life sciences
2 biological sciences
3 physical sciences ???

http://www.electronicinfo.ca/en/program-details.php?pcode=0_528861_287_0

That link says enrollment: 2

... lol ... so I just wasted applying for that spot due to only 2 enrollment spots... is OUAC going to let me alter my choice and pick something with more spots?

What I would advise is applying to at least 6 or 7 universities. Here are some choices for you since they're easiest to get into; Brock, York, UOIT, Ryerson, Algoma, Nippising, Lakehead, Carleton

For physical sciences (in the link I showed)

Sorry should have made that clear.

That's completely stupid. Why would a university have a program for only two people? I doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It has to be a typo.

I think only two people accepted their offer.

I'm 99% sure that's not how it works with that site cause the enrollment number is supposed to mean the number of available spots (based on what I've seen from the other schools).

I'm pretty sure that's a typo because when I went to the open house at UOIT, I saw at least 3 physical sciences students :cat:

You should be fine with an 80% avg for UOIT. Due to a death in the family last year, my gr 11 avg ended up in the low 80's and I got into both bio and life sci around 2 weeks ago.

As long as you really work hard and cut out the laziness you should be fine.

The only bad part about my grade 11 marks is the physics... 65... mainly due to me doing nothing at all.
Is there still a chance of getting early acceptance ?

And I still have a few more community hours to do lol... so that'll show up as not done.

Try not to get overly stressed about it. If you do you'll end up doing even worse. Work hard, do your best and if you get in great. If not, you stay back and do an extrea year or semester or whatever, and then apply again next year. It's not the end of the world.

I'm not an expert but I think you should be fine for UOIT. Just work really hard, get accepted and then you only have to worry about keeping up a 70% avg.
