Finishing my pre med at UBCO?

A photo of tompi90 tompi90
I finished 3 years of university in the US with a terrible GPA of 2.71. It was suggested that I take some extra time to graduate to boost my GPA before applying to med school. My grades were in a downward trend at my current uni and I was unhappy there, so I decided to graduate later at a different uni. Of those choices, UBCO seemed to make the most sense.

I will be joining there as a third year student majoring in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology.

How rigorous is the curriculum? Is it difficult to do really well in it? <---I know a large part of that depends on my study skills/time management, etc. I was wondering on a general level?

Is undergraduate research something that I can do there?

Are there opportunities for me to volunteer/shadow at hospitals?

Thanks.
