Getting deferred to AFM-FM

If I apply to AFM-PA and I get deferred to AFM-FM instead, can I still become a CA? If yes, can someone explain to me the process?

According to information off of a University website, if you get deferred into the FM program instead of the PA program you can still become a CA. The only difference is how to co-op program works; for an FM student you have to find a placement yourself.

It is tougher to find your placements obviously as you are doing it by yourself, but it can be done.

FM students are still exempt from the two CA exams and can take the same courses as PA students.
