I would like to pursue a career in finance and when I did my research about York and Queen's, based off what I read, Queen's was the better choice for me. Furthermore, I really did not want to go to a "commuter school", thus Queen's was even more appealing to me despite the price.

Do you want to succeed in business? If your answer is yes, go to queens commerce.

How hard is it to become an club executive in first year?

Harder in September, as most clubs only take 2-3 first-years. Easier in March because clubs take 6-8 first-years then.

Did you apply to Schulich BBA? If so i repeated a course and though all universities have said they dont care do you think they really will? My projected average is about 93-94

No, I didn't. I'm not 100% sure, but I haven't ever read anything about Queen's caring about repeated courses. Good job for keeping a high average!

Ivey is overrated, plus losing ur AEO status. I'm not risking that...........

I've heard from current AEO's (2 of my bosses at my summer job) that ur shot of getting into Ivey is literally barely any better than anyone without an AEO status. They just market it really well to make it seem like u are already a part of Ivey.

Is Queens Commerce for Finance really worth it without a co-op programme which is offered in Unis like WLU and Waterloo? What makes it stand out other than it's prestige?

nothing really everything good about it is connected to its prestige

workplace connections, alum network etc....... all built off this general "prestige"

Great question, this was definitely something I often thought about. First of all, I just want to say that both WLU's BBA and Waterloo's AFM are very good programs! However, after doing my research, Queen's was very appealing to me because despite not having co-op, they had really strong alumni and many networking opportunities for students in finance. Furthermore, it seemed to me as if Queen's placed well on both Bay Street and Wall Street.

I am currently working on my PSE & SE for Queen's Commerce. What would you say is really important when writing your essays. I have an 90% average currently without calculus.

The application is a lot different from Ivey. Make sure you really express what you learned from your experiences rather than what you did.

From what I heard last year, for your Queen's essay try to focus on being more reflective (talking about what impact your activities had on you). On the other hand, for your Ivey application, focus on being more action-oriented (talking a lot about what you have done).
