Does anyone know what type of computer would be needed that will be compatible with the programs (eg. AUDOcad) if you want to become an architect, apple, Mac, PC ... ?

Contact the school. They'll be able to tell you if there are specific requirements.

It's AutoCAD, btw. A lot of designers prefer Macs, but it comes down to preference. If you've been using PCs your whole life, it's difficult to make the transition to Macs. Difficult but not impossible - many people do it. The most important thing is to get a laptop which has enough memory/RAM to run the rendering programs at a somewhat decent speed. Also, you might want to invest in an external hard drive, so you have more space to save those huge files.

As emotycka said, contact the school, or someone in the program you're aiming for/in. The former will tell you the technical requirements needed, while the latter will give a personal take on it (preferred brands, possible programs, additional requirements).
