Major Scholarships

A photo of Anonymous Anonymous
Hi, I wondered if anyone had a list of all the big scholarships that are known throughout Canada?

I know of the Loran Award, RBC Scholarship & Wendy's Scholarship, but are there any more out there?
If you know of any big scholarships please post. :)
Thanks!!

A lot of the scholarships are on the studentawards dashboard.
Some from the top of my head include the burger king scholarship and university specific offers.

The big ones in Canada are Loran Award, TD, RBC, Wendy's and Top 20 Under 20 - I don't think Wendy's is running this year though, and Loran and TD applications were long overdue. I'm not sure the dates for RBC and Top 20, but if I remember they're coming soon.

There's also Terry Fox Humanitarian!

Thanks everyone! I think the only one I will apply to will be the RBC Scholarship. I'm not a leader in my school/community so the RBC one sounds like the one that works well for me the most.

Like immaculatedx said, the TD deadline has passed for this year, but here's the link anyway. http://www.tdcanadatrust.com/scholarship/ It might come in handy next year.

I think the deadline for the TD scholarship was October 31, 2010. You missed it. :(

Don't you have to write an essay about how a leader in your community for the RBC scholarship?

Why must everyone be so competitive? It makes everyone seem like they have no chance, when suddenly, BAM! The winner has been selected. Is there possibly an easier way to getting scholarships, knowing that thousands, and maybe millions of students are also applying for them as well? I'm pretty sure this is a question a lot of people wonder about... It just seems so impossible.

Its a hard call - unfortunately you will be competing with lots of people for scholarships, and no one, even the best, win them all. And there is no real answer to your feeling of "futility", other than the belief that no, you're not guaranteed to win if you apply - but you'll never win if you don't even try. And remember that while the number of finalists and winners are small, someone has to be that person - why can't that be you?

When filling out an application for OSAP they first ask you if you wish to be considered for the scholarship.

Don't give up so easily! By using studentawards.com you are already well on your way to winning! The key is to apply to as many as you are eligible for. True, scholarships can be competitive, but there will always be a winner so keep trying!

I thought it just had to be an essay about someone that you feel is a hero. Maybe I'm wrong about that...?

Being ontop of school, scholarships, and all the activities that scholarships look for is tough.. then you have to actually apply! The madness!
P.S. Nyx, I wish you the best of luck with all the school's your applying to, and hope you get scholarhsips! I have a friend at McGill, and my Dad attended Harvard a few years back. Both are excellent schools.

Does any body know of any other scholarship sites? Or of any other scholarships (not necessarily the biggest ones) that are out there, and haven't been viewed on student awards?
