McMaster or Guelp?

A photo of xAnthonyLeong xAnthonyLeong
I've applied for both

I was curious to hear the pro's and cons for both

Also does Guelp have second year cut offs like McMaster?

Along with how creditably these universities are in terms of engineering?

I was interested in the Mechatronics program at McMaster but when i thought about it i doubt i'd have a job with robotics either way.

You can do mechatronics at Guelph too, you just have to do it through engineering systems and computing.

Mac is much better! It has a better rep for engineering than Guelph, #51 in TopUniversities for engineering, while Guelph didn't even make the list.

You'll prob get a better education in Mac too, and employers will look at where you went for uni. Possibly even get a higher salary :)

McMaster!!! It's much more reputable and you don't have to pick your major right away. You can try diff types of disciplines and then decide whether to go with mechatronics or something else.

I heard if you don't reach a certain average first year, you don't get to pick what major you specilize in and they put you into a major you might not want to be in. D:

I was wondering if you guys think I have a chance of being accepted to University of Guelph's Computer Engineering program. The only problem is I don't know how to calculate the average of my top 6 courses because I only have 4 courses completed so far. And they said they use the top 6 courses on there website.
So my question is, which grade 11 courses will they use for calculation of the top 6 courses?

The pre-requisites for the program are:
Calcular and Vectors (Taking, THIS SEMESTER)
Advanced Functions (ALREADY TAKEN Last Semester)
English (Already Taken last semester)
Chemistry (Already Taken last semester)
Physics (Taking, THIS SEMESTER)
Any other U/M course (Already taken last semester)

So seeing that I only have 4 grade 12 courses, what grade 11 courses (2 courses) will they use for calculation of the top 6 courses?

And do I have a chance of getting accepted into the program? The admission average stated was 76% - 80&.
MY AVERAGE FOR the 4 grade 12 courses is 80.75%. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE 2 OTHER COURSES NEEDED, Because I DO NOT KNOW WHAT GRADE 11 COURSES they WILL USE, WHICH is one of my questions.

When they say top 6, they usually mean top 6 4U courses. Meaning that they are looking for grade 12 marks. If there is a mark they are interested in that you did not take first semester, they may wait until midterms to do so. But usually grade 11 marks are only useful for early acceptance.

Also @avp, how is it that you have adv. functions and calc in the same semester?

Well...Advanced Functions is a co-requisite for calculus and vectors...not a prerequisite...This means that you can have both of them in the same semester :D
