I have a question about the remaining time left and raising grades.

If someone has an 80 in a course how high can they bump up their mark if there is about 70% of a course remaining? What about 70 or 60%?

80% now, and say you got 90% for the remaining part, 0.8*30+0.9*70=87%
70% now, and say you got 90% for the remaining part, 0.7*30+0.9*70=84%
60% now, and say you got 90% for the remaining part, 0.6*30+0.9*70=81%

Well.

You have an 80 in 30% of the course.
The highest you could possibly get, if you got 100 on everything else, is 40.
Together, your term mark would be 64. 64 out of a possible 70.

Then, if you got 100% on the exam, which I am assuming is 30%, add 30 to that.

So the highest mark, if you got 100% on everything from now on, would be a 94.

Simple math really. I'm amazed how often people ask questions like this...
