MyExplore 2011

A photo of HuShang HuShang
I have absolutely no idea if I'm putting this in the right spot, however, this seems like a good place to put it since I think this is the 'everything else' folder :P.

Anyways, I was just curious if anyone here is going to be attending the program 'myexplore' which is basically a program where you go across Canada and take french for 5 weeks.

There is another thread for this.. I remember posting in it.
Use your search tool. :D
I wanted to apply, but no time this summer.
Which location did you pick?

I think it's called "J'explore" :) And I'll most likely be going this summer. I picked Jonquiere and maybe 10-20 people from my school (we're all in grade 11) are going to Jonquiere too. A few people picked trois-rivieres and riviere du loup. I only know of one girl who chose quebec city but our teachers said that the likelihood if you getting one of the larger cities is very slim, and chances are you won't get in with your friends so we all decided to apply for smaller cities :)

I got "Wait list" as my status on the myexplore.ca website. They didn't send me an e-mail or anything. What am I supposed to do now?

@ Juicyjuicy: The waitlist is just as it sounds. They will send you a letter by mail soon. If it helps, I got off the waitlist last year into my second choice!
I had a blast at Rivière-du-Loup. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

The residences differ by location. At Rivière-du-Loup, they were wonderful, perhaps a bit too white(but that can be changed with posters etc...)

TY so much for actually replying. What did the letter say? When you were "off the waitlist", did you receive another letter/package?

How long until you were accepted into your second choice? It's my first-time applying, and many of my friends too. We're all from Ontario. ALL of us have been Waitlisted so far. This is absurd to me because I thought the prospective of first-time applicants being accepted were really high. Then I go on to read that some people have done this program like 5 years in a row and it gets me pretty frustrated because I've planned my entire summer around this. :(

Also, is it true that you don't get to choose what kind of accommodation you get (and who you'd like to room with)?

Hey Sabrina99, I also been accepted to the Universite de Montreal yesterday for the summer session! I've never been there before but from the pictures I've seen the campus looks pretty nice as well as the residence. In the email they sent us on the registration attachment it has all the info on money for meals. It also says partying is forbidden... LMAO yeah righttt. Haha they're probably strictly on partying and noise within the residence but I'm thinking we'd definitely be able to go out clubbing if we wanted to.

Hello,

Got accepted for 2011. Really excited to go. Just wandering what to expect? I don't know French at all, do you think that will be a big problem ? I am also wondering what is the best way to get from the airport to the university ?

Thanks
