Will Universities deduct your overall submissions average if you took ENG4U or any of your top 6 courses in private school, night school, or virtual school?

Depends on the university and program. Waterloo does for some. Some don't care. Some ask in the supplementary applications why you took them, and if the reason is legitimate they don't care, but if you just wanted to go to provate school or summer school to repeat a class and/or get a higher mark, then they will take this into consideration and possibly deduct marks.

how much will they deduct it by?
will they deduct it from your overall average
or just that course?
and what is considered a legitimate explanation?

or just that course? depends on the school and program. I know for example Waterloo CompEng will take 1% off. Try searching the program and under admissions or FAQs on the website it will sometimes say. Or you could try emailing the admissions office for the particular school.
and what is considered a legitimate explanation? it will all depend on the school I am sure and each individual case, but fast-tracking, classes not offered, course conflicts etc. are all failry legitimate reasons.

Thanks, does anyone know any other program at Waterloo in where your mark gets adjusted?
Or any other university?

By the way, if you apply to a university early and you don't get accepted can you apply after since your second semester mid term marks will be included

think that Waterloo AFM asks on the AIF supp application, and just say that they will decide upon how to include the marks. I think software engineering is the same as comp and likely the other engineering programs are the same.

If you don't get early acceptance, you will be automatically re-considered after final semester 1 marks and semester 2 mid-terms. You don't need to re-apply. Early acceptance is nice, but isn't everything.
