U of T: Human Biology

Everyone has been telling me to avoid applying to U of T for Human Biology. They say that it's unnecessarily hard in comparison to other schools because they try to weed out the first year students. Is this true? Is getting a 80-90% in this program at U of T possible?

By Human Biology, are you referring to the General Human Biology Major Program or Human Biology: Health & Disease Specialist or what? There's a whole range of Human Biology programs to choose from.

If it is the General Major, it is one of the easier life science program in that you have the flexibility to pick and choose among the many available courses. Many people opt for this since they can pick the ones that best suit their learning style and interests.

If it is health and disease specialist that you are looking at, it is a little more restricted in that there is a set of courses which you must take in order to fulfill the program requirement. With that said, many people are going into this specialist because it is a specialist after all, but not as difficult as other specialist programs such as Microbiology & Genetics, Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology, Immunology etc...

First year really isn't as bad as many make it out to be. With hard work, an 80% is achievable. But I think anything above 90%, I think you require some intelligence too besides the hard work.

Hope this helped!
