What defines financial need? Help PLEASE!

A photo of Kareemy Kareemy
Hey guys! So I've been applying to scholarships, and most of them require financial need, but then I realized - only one of my parents are employed, and this is a short-term contract, and they are not willing to subsidize much of my education (less than half).

Do I qualify? What kind of documents do I need to prove this?

Many thanks in advance! :)

There's no magic way of defining "financial need". It depends on your family's income, their assets, how many dependents they have, etc. I'd definitely encourage you to apply for these scholarships because you really don't have anything to lose.

Most scholarships that have a financial need component simply ask you to tell them how much your parents make in a year, how many dependents they're supporting, and if there's any special circumstances affecting their financial status.
