What is your go-to restaurant?

Hi everyone! I'm Alyssa, one of your yconic Student Ambassadors.

As a university student in the heart of downtown Toronto, I am surrounded by SO MANY restaurants that offer a wide-variety of food options and different cuisines. Though I bring lunches (It's a great way to save money aha!), I would eat out once in a while.

And so...

When you eat out during your lunches or breaks, where do you go?
Is there a specific place that students from your school go to?
If you could recommend one item from the menu to someone going to your favourite restaurant for the first time, what would it be?

Maybe through this discussion, we can all visit a new restaurant and try something new. My fellow foodies, I look forward to hearing from you! :)

K so at Western, I tend to eat at rez a lot because the food is cheaper than going out.
But if it's late night (1am-4am) and Im hungry after studying alot, shawrma fries really hits the spot.

omg! Any restaurant that has a student special. But let's be real - midnight pizza usually wins.

Yes! Salad King's really close to Ryerson. Do you happen to go there as well?

Honestly, I live in Hamilton and go to McMaster University, and it makes my week going for $5 (plus tax) student lunch Chinese meals at these small local restaurants. Love Chinese food.

Pizza Pizza also does 2 slices for $5 and that too makes my week (not the ones on campus - literally everywhere else).

I'm a HUGE fan of bunch. It is tradition for me and my friends to go to the restaurant "The Coffee Mill" every Sunday morning. It is soooooooo good! The portions are great and the price is very affordable. It is nice to have something to look forward to with your friends every week. This is in Fredericton, NB, but I'm sure it is similar to most places that serve a mean brunch!

Once a week I like to treat myself to a good steak at Canoe. The caviar and fried chicken at Momofuku noodle bar is also very good.   :)
