UW because of Co-op and has better undergrad CS program than UofT.

UofTSG Comp Sci

I picked it because I hate the city of Waterloo, and the student life is better at UofT, considering its a metropolitan area with lots to do.

Also, I like the idea of PEY rather than co-op, I don't want to be studying during the summer

Also I feel that UofT CS is more flexible.

For anyone curious I emailed the PEY office!

Hi XXXXXXXXXX,

Your ROSI transcript will show your sessional GPA, as well as your Cummulative GPA which includes all courses you have completed up to that point (I don’t believe there is any restriction on first year courses).
If you are under 2.00, but still feel strongly that you would like to participate in the PEY program you can set up an appointment with our Director, Jose Pereira.

Last year about 65% of Comp Sci students who registered in PEY secured internships. However, many of the students who didn’t find internships registered for the program and then decided that PEY did not fit with their goals, and returned to school instead. While there are no guarantees that a student will secure a position, as this is dependent on many variables, we do post a number of Comp Sci related positions and our Career Counsellors assist students throughout the job search process.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions.

Thanks,

Arran

Subject: Prospective student question about PEY

I understand in order to apply for PEY you must have "A minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0"
I am wondering how the CGPA is calculated, is there s restriction to how many first year courses are allowed to be included?

Also do all or most of the eligible students find a PEY internship from Computer Science? On average what percentage of Computer Science students who apply find a job?

Thank you!
