- Date of offer
- Admission average (Grade 11, Grade 12 first semester- basically whatever was used in determining admission qualifications)

Good luck everyone!!

Can I Get In!?
Here's some information and I'd love some opinions on whether I could get into the following schools for BA (either PoliSci or International Studies depending on the school).

Schools I'm applying to:
UofAlberta, UBC, McGill, UofT, Queen's, Waterloo, UVic, Dalhousie

Grade 11 Average - 92.6%
Grade 12 courses taken:
Law - 96%
Earth & Space - 90%

My current very preliminary sem. 1 looks like:
English - 92%
Chem - 85%
Business Leadership - 95 %
(91%ish average so far)

I'm in my second year as Student Senator of the school and second year as one of two student trustees in my school board, I volunteer with heart & stroke and cancer society, I've done six years of work with Me to We, I lead the Gender/Sexuality Alliance within my school... etc.

What do you think my chances of getting to those schools are? Scholarship possibilities? Thanks!

PS no "trolls" please

How many terms does UVic have?
When looking at the tuition fee estimator on the UVic website it is priced in terms. My question is how many terms does an average September-April year have?

Thank you.

Chances of being accepted?
I'm in senior year of High School and beginning to apply to post-secondary. I've already finished my applications for SFU and UVic. My other schools of interest are UBC (Vancouver campus) and Concordia University, however, my GPA from last year was only sitting around 3.67, which worries me a bit.

Teachers have not sent out any grades so far this year, but assuming I score a similar/slightly higher average, what are the chances that I could get into these schools? I've done some volunteer work, and intend on doing more throughout this year, but don't do any sports or fine arts.

Though I'm not set on what I want to study, some courses of interest include Behavioural Neuroscience, Chem & Biochem, Anthropology, Psychology, Criminology/Criminal Law, Languages (French & English) and Social Justice type courses. Any insight on this/opinion helps, thanks! :)

Grade 11 Averages?
I'm currently in grade 11. As of midterm, first semester, I have a 93 in anthro/soc/psych, a 92 in American history, a 95 in fitness and a 60 in chemistry (I'm having a very difficult time, but am starting to put in a greater amount of effort.) I took grade 11 English second semester of grade 10 and only got a 70, but I plan on taking grade 12 English in the summer going into grade 12 (as long as I don't have to redo chem) and I know I can likely pull off a 90. Next semester, I have biology (which I'm very excited for), mixed math (not one of my strong suits) and co op. I'm very confused on how early admission works and how much grade 11 marks are weighted in on admission overall. Could anyone predict where my marks may land me? (probably just Trent, lol)

UVic/SFU Comp Sci
I was looking online and did not see the average for acceptance into SFU or UVic for BSc in Comp Sci. My average currently is 80%. I understand this may not be competitive enough for these schools. But would I still have a chance at getting accepted? Thanks, any responses are appreciated!

American student looking at schools
I'm an American student looking at Canadian schools and am wondering if some people could give me an idea of the feel and reputation of schools since I'm coming into this with no idea. I know I should probably take all of this with a grain of salt, so I'm going to visit schools later this fall to see how I like them. I'm planning on majoring in political science, but I'd like to incorporate environmental studies or something like that if possible. I'm planning on going to grad school so I'd like to go somewhere that will set me up for success in that. So far I've looked at Dalhousie, Acadia, Mount Allison, St. FX, UVic, Alberta, and UBC. I'd like to go somewhere where I can get outside and go hiking, camping, exploring, that sort of thing as often as possible and somewhere where I'll be able to find other people who want to do that with me. My grades are okay but not great and I had health problems that prevented me from attending school for a while so my transcript isn't "normal", but I took hard classes and did well in those. I have high ACT & SAT scores & tons of extracurriculars (though from what I understand that matters less in Canada). What do you think about these schools? Is there any other schools I should be looking at?

dropping english 12 summer school good idea?
hello, i am thinking of dropping my English 12 summer school. I am getting like 65% now which is why I wanna drop. I achieved an 88% for English 11 so I think this summer school teacher is kinda strict. Summer school has been 10 days. if I drop it now, will the university see that I dropped the course on the transcript? or will my transcript show that I failed or incompleted the course or something? please let me know your thoughts. btw I am in British Columbia so there is still a provincial English 12 exam towards the end of the course to write which will probably make my mark (65%) even lower.

thanks for answering
Do Universities favor students who take Calculus 12 if they are applying to Sciences?
Hi I am currently entering my final year in high school but I am debating whether or not to take Calculus 12. I completed in Pre-Calc 12 in Grade 11 with a 97%. Looking at my schedule for next year, it seems pretty doable since math is out of the way. Electives I chose for next year are Economics, Psychology, Chem, Bio, French, and also a spare. In general, do universities opt to choose students who take more challenging courses in Grade 12 (Applying to Sciences)? I take an after school math program as a way to get an intro to Calc at least.

Should I do a Victory lap?
Hey guys,

I'm from Alberta and recently got accepted into SFU Beedie. My dream was to go out east and go to Queen's, UOFT, York, or McGill but unfortunately, I didn't take Calculus and my English grade fell under 80%. I have a 97 in Pre-Calc 12, a 95 in History 12, 94 in Chem 12 and a 78 in English 12. I was thinking of taking a year off and upgrade my English grade, as well as take Calc 12 while working throughout the year to save up for Uni. Would that be a wise decision or is it better to just stick with Beedie? I hope to go into finance, which is the reason I want to go to the east because I plan on living there after grad.

Will I be accepted?
So i'm currently in grade 11 and i screwed up terribly this year. I finishing English 20 with a grade of 68 percent. Physics 20 with a 85. Finally, Chemistry 20 IB with a 68 percent. I really want to pursue engineering in post secondary so I'm really banking on my grade 12 marks to get me in. I' m taking math 30 in the summer and I'll probably get around a 92 (cause i'm strong in math). Also, I'll be doing chemistry 30, physics 30, and ela 30 first semester grade 12. If I maintain a high enough average. Will I make it into my desired program?
SFU vs UVic Undergrad Sciences
So I need to choose by June 1. I know SFU has crappy campus life but it can't be that bad? My parent also want me to to Sfu because it closer. What are the pros and cons of each university? Including campus life?
